**Challenge A families**
We made it to our first break!! NO Challenge on September 4th!
Have a relaxing Labor Day!
Research- Since there is a 2 week break, I wanted to take
this time to ask that the students present a tri-fold board or
poster board for their research paper for week 5. Each student can
choose any topic left: invertebrates, birds, amphibians, reptiles,
mammals, or fish. I'd love to see lots of illustrations
(hand-drawn, copied, or printed) with a piece of research
describing each illustration. The goal is to prepare them for
their Science Fair presentation. An oral presentation will still
be given. Please let me know if you have any questions. I don't
think this should take a whole week, or even a lot more time than
the normal research paper, just more descriptions and labeling
involved with the illustrations.
Debate- There was some talk about how Mrs. Benge is
getting slimed at Christmas if Foundations students draw 1000 maps
and suggestions that Challenge students should be in on it too...
So, if each student draws 50 maps each (300 maps total as a class)
by November 27th, I will consent to being slimed. BUT there are
some rules:
1. In order to count toward the 50, every map MUST be FREE-HAND
2. Each map MUST be LABELED (complete, EITHER with provinces/territories/states/countries
OR features/rivers)
They will have an opportunity to turn their maps in at the
beginning of class each week.
